Student Success Statement #65

"I have been asked what I mean by 'word of honor'. I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls - walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground. There is a possibility that in some way or another I may be able to escape. But stand me on that floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of that circle? No. Never! I'd die first"
-Karl G. Maesar

This is a quote made by Karl and I can agree with him on this quote. You can never walk out a line that has your honor in it. If you cross the line then you will go back on your word and it is basically going to be lying. Never go back on your word and always stay true to it. He says that it's easier and is possible to get out of a cell faster than that circle. Eventually he will escape the prison cell, no matter what is blocking him or how hard it is. On the other hand though, he can not even take a step outside the circle. He stays in the circle to show that he stays true to his word and has honor in himself. He is an honorable person and it would be an honor to be in the circle of honor even if it means if you're there forever.
